Not gonna lie, I thought this remake of one of the greatest horror games of all time was going to be total trash — but boy was I glad to be proven 100% wrong

When the Silent Hill 2 remake was announced in 2022, I, like many old-school gamers who grew up on the PlayStation 2 classic, thought it would never live up to the original game or even be good.

Thankfully, Bloober Team came in clutch to deliver one of the best survival-horror remakes I've seen since Resident Evil HD Remaster, and it's now 55% off on Loaded for $36.69.

Bloober Team had a herculean task on its hands when Konami approached them to remake Silent Hill 2.

Fortunately, they managed to succeed. The Silent Hill 2 remake ended up being so good that it not only sold 2.5 million copies (which is insane for a horror game outside of Resident Evil) but also helped revive the Silent Hill franchise alongside Silent Hill f.

This remake accomplished this feat thanks to its engaging story and characters, which, while changing a couple of scenes, are very faithful to the tone and themes of the original game.

Additionally, the game has done a superb job of improving the original game's clunky combat system with more advanced controls and mechanics, without making you feel overpowered to maintain the remake's fear factor.

The bosses in particular are a major highlight as they've been completely revamped to be ten times more threatening, with multiple phases and deadly moves that will destroy you if you haven't been conservative with your supplies before encountering them.

Furthermore, the Silent Hill 2 remake graphics look stunningly detailed, with dark and gritty locales dripping with the iconic, oppressively lonely atmosphere Silent Hill is famous for.

If you're brave enough to venture into one of the scariest towns in video game history to experience spine-chilling thrills and heartbreaking tales, then I highly recommend Bloober Team's Silent Hill 2 remake, as it is awesome, and I can't wait to see what they do with their remake for Silent Hill 1.

The PC version of Silent Hill 2 is currently on a 55% discount at Loaded for $36.69.

Loaded is also having a Halloween Sale from October 29, 2025, to November 3, 2025, where if you log in and buy two or more select horror games, you will get an extra 10% discount on them at checkout.
