Get an Xbox One S in black, or any color you want, with ColorWare's custom service

ColorWare has announced that it is offering its custom color service for Microsoft's newly launched Xbox One S. It allows anyone to get the console in any color they want, including black, but it's not a cheap service.

ColorWare's website allows customers to add custom colors to the main body of the Xbox One S, along with its bottom, the eject button, and the stand, along with the front and back of the console's controller.

Customers can either send in their Xbox One S to be customized for $249, and it will be shipped back within 7 to 10 days. If you just want to buy the Xbox One S direct from ColoWare with the custom design already in place, you can do so for $649. It will ship in about three weeks.

  • Huh, that black and green does look cool. Actually, the white with green bottom would be nice too. Not sure it's worth $249, but hey options are nice.
  • Reminds me of the Ps2 fat case model lol. Posted via the Windows Central App for Android (LG V10 or Nexus 5x)
  • At that price it is better we paint it ourselves.
  • I'd honestly never trust myself to do that lol
  • Even with a decal/skin?
  • I work for a company that makes industrial printers. I will be trying some new custom Vinyl Skins on mine. When we test printers before shipping, we can print anything we want on them for quality test :D
  • Dbrand is working on skins for the XBoneS already. Let's see how they solve the grill challenge. Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
  • That's the biggest issue. Nobody wants a black decal that avoids the white grill.
  • The skins never look good for long.  I've tried a few and they all peel or are a pain to apply nicely. A click-on-click-off case would have been wonderful.  But they are nickel and diming on this new console.  Only the 2Tb comes with the vertical stand, and making you pay for the kinect adaptor after a (very) limited time to get the free one.  My GoW edition shipping in 2 months will fall outside the 'free' kinect adaptor window.
  • Yup. Thought exactly the same Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
  • The Xbox One S in black reminds me of a much better looking and refined Playstation 2. :)
  • It does lol the fat case model Posted via the Windows Central App for Android (LG V10 or Nexus 5x)
  • 249 for GOLD version is OK anything else is a kick in the ass
  • Only if it's coated with real gold and not gold coloured paint... Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
  • Wow I wonder how many people will do it at this price? They look awesome but some people have too much cash to burn
  • Are they molding new plastic housings that are that colour for the price? I'm sure it's not just paint.
  • For the price, I expect color molded parts. If they are just paining these then that means they will not be durable enough. Any scratche will reveal the original color.
  • From the FAQ on the ColorWare page: "Our customization process voids the original manufacturer's warranty." Buyer beware! Source: http://www.colorware.com/support.aspx
  • If you don't like the white, hide it in an entertainment stand (vented, of course).  Or like someone else said, Skin it.  Just gotta have real paint?  Bust out the Krylon...
  • Wonder if it voids the warranty.
  • It does
  • Any customization that you cannot remove voids warranty. Safest bet is skin.
  • loved the black and green, but the price is salty :/ ...
  • Glossy white / matte green. That's a winner.
  • Way too steep for me but great to see options from color wave so early on.
  • The fact that it voids the warranty must mean it is actually a custom molded casing, since busting open the OEM casing voids the warranty. Maybe one day as a bit of a refresh, MS will sell variant color options to boost sales, next year or so, or before a big release of a new console.
  • I wouldn't !
After 1 day I am so burnt with my new 2TB console!
Only had 1.5 TB of space fresh out of the box and an hour olus to install a game, that is if it doesn't fail 10 times in a row, is unacceptable.
Add to that the woefully bad UI and I am totally burnt.
Seriously considering reigning it, had taken hours and hours to install 4 games, grrrrrrrrr
