Why buy the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D?

The AMD Ryzen 9800X3D is one of the best overall PC gaming CPUs you can install in your PC and bring out its GPU's greatest performance, whether it's an RTX 4060 or an RTX 4070.

It can do this because the AMD Ryzen 9800X3D is outfitted with 8-cores, 16-threads, a base clock speed of 4.7GHz, a max clock speed of 5.2 GHz, and a second-generation 3D V-Cache with 96GB of memory, all built on AMD's Zen 5 architecture.

This allows a PC with a Ryzen 9800X3D to improve its performance significantly for gaming and achieve high framerates for more enjoyable and stable gameplay.

One of our tech experts, Ben Wilson, tested this CPU on several demanding AAA PC games during his review for the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, and discovered it could help a PC easily reach 266fps in Cyberpunk 2077, 305fps in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, and 387fps in Forza Horizon 5 when paired with an RTX 4090.

It certainly crushes similar, more expensive rivals like the Intel Core Ultra 9 285K (which has an MSRP of $599.99) in the gaming performance department, that's for sure.

The AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D is no slouch when it comes to productivity performance, either, as it features decent multi-core and single-core processing speed that make it around 21-22% faster than its predecessor, the AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D.

On top of that, the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D is compatible with most AM5 CPU coolers without needing you to go hunt down new adapters for it to work, saving some of your budget in the process.

The only real issue is that if you're upgrading your PC's CPU from a Ryzen 5000X3D series CPU, you will need to acquire a new motherboard with DDR5 RAM to install the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D.

Also, its pricey MSRP of $479.99 doesn't help matters either if you're conscious about your budget when buying PC upgrades. Fortunately, the pricing is somewhat lessened with this 8% discount for $439.99 at Amazon, giving you a chance to own this stellar PC component for less.
