What you need to know

  • HP announced an improved set of security tools today.
  • HP Pro Security Edition, HP Proactive Security, and HP Sure Click Enterprise cover all business sizes.
  • HP is also offering Sure Click Pro for free through September 20 for all HP and non-HP Windows 10 PCs.

HP already offers a robust suite of security tools for businesses to tap into, but it's bolstering its offerings today. The company has announced new packages of security tools for small and medium-sized businesses, along with a new Sure Click solution for enterprises. As more people are working remotely, the company also plans to offer Sure Click Pro for free on any Windows 10 PC.

HP Pro Security Edition is targeted at small businesses who might not otherwise have an IT staff to tend to its digital security. Intended to provide enterprise-level security, it includes HP Sure Click Pro and Sure Sense Pro, offering a combination of AI-based threat monitoring and isolation protection for the browser, files, and apps. Both complement each other in one package to isolate threats and monitor vectors for cyberattacks.

For medium-sized businesses, HP Proactive Security is a managed security service that is monitored by cybersecurity experts at HP. This service is intended to free up IT workloads by using government-grade monitoring and protection and serving up "actionable insights" on a company's security situation, HP says. The service also gives employees the ability to work where they want with the productivity tools and apps they want "without the fear of compromising their IT networks," HP says.

Finally, there's HP Sure Click Enterprise. HP calls this the "world's most secure endpoint application isolation and containment solution." Supported on Windows 8 and Windows 10, Sure Click Enterprise brings enhanced run-time protection with non-persistent virtual machines. It can also protect user credentials from phishing attacks and supports large-scale deployments.

Lastly, because there are more workers working from home due to the current coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, HP says it will make Sure Click Pro free for everyone through September 20. That applies to all HP and non-HP Windows 10 PCs alike.

As for availability, HP Pro Security Edition is expected to launch on "select HP Elite PCs" starting this summer. Proactive Security is expected to launch in April, while Sure Click Enterprise is expected to launch in May.
