- The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners is an action-RPG available for PC VR and PSVR, with an Oculus Quest version in the works.
- This update adds a brand new Horde-style arcade mode, called The Trial, as well as new difficulty settings.
When it comes to deep and rewarding VR experiences, few games fit the bill like The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners. As a full AAA-quality title, Saints & Sinners packs a 15-hour long story about a post-Apocalyptic New Orleans into an action-RPG package. But sometimes, you just want to release some stress and lob heads off the undead, right? If that's the case, Skydance Interactive has heard your cries and, with the new Meatgrinder Update, has added a brand new Horde-style arcade mode called The Trial.
In The Trial, it's your goal to survive as long as possible while taking out hordes of the undead, all of which come in wave after greuling wave to turn you into one of them. While the story mode for Saints & Sinners rewards kills with loot, kills in The Trial reward players with points that are based on skill, with bonus points for decapitations and brutal combos. These points can then be spent on weapons and supplies in-between waves, not unlike what you might find in a game like Killing Floor. All weapons from the story mode are unlockable in The Trial, so if you never collected enough junk to put together one of the many awesome weapons available, now is your time to shine.

We loved The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners when it came out on the PC earlier this year, and its debut on the PlayStation VR (PSVR) in May opened up the haunting world to millions of additional players. Skydance Interactive is hard at work on the Oculus Quest version of the game, which is still scheduled to debut later this year. The Meatgrinder Update follows the trend of games that debuted with a rich and detailed story mode, only to pull players back in months later with a brand new arcade-style mode.
