It's April Fool's Day, so of course, that means we get access to an infinite number of procedurally generated worlds that defy every law set in place since the dawn of Minecraft. Wait, what? That's right; for this year's day of jokes, Mojang has released a new limited-time snapshot for Minecraft: Java Edition. By writing whatever you want in a book and tossing it through a lit nether portal, you get to experience over two billion different worlds that use everything in the game in every possible combination to create some seriously bizarre dimensions. We took to Reddit to find the best out of a very long list, and below is what we found.

Before that, some things to keep in mind. If you want to know what on earth this is talking about, check out our article explaining everything. If you want to skip the list and jump straight into these random worlds, check out our guide to playing Java Edition snapshots. If you're all good, continue on to see what we found.

The Minecraft dimension

The first stop on our list is the one and only "Minecraft" dimension. This is the dimension you get if you just type "Minecraft" into your favorite book and chuck it into a nether portal. This dimension is everything you'd expect from it: bright, colorful, and filled to the brim with solid diamond blocks. What other block could it be? There also appears to be some End ships and a whole lot of bookshelves, because why not.

The Reddit dimension

Next stop, the Reddit dimension! If we saw what Minecraft looked like in, well, Minecraft world form, then Reddit is also basically what we expected. If what you expected was the Nether but a lot more purple and a lot more floating pirate ships and a lot more oh-my-gosh-none-of-this-makes-sense. Which, if you think about it, is precisely what Reddit is. Also, the nether portal entrance turns red, which is neat.

The "F" dimension

Type "F" in chat if you knew this one was coming. Somebody found the "F" dimension, and it's dark, gloomy, looks like a scene out of my worst nightmare, and is filled with giant floating colorful "F's," which makes it all okay. Why does it exist? I have no idea, but I'm glad I got to see it without actually having to go there. Am I the only one who's getting a strange urge to play DOOM Eternal?

The pink dimension

If you haven't noticed a trend yet, all of these dimensions match their names pretty well. The pink dimension is, wait for it, blue. I'm kidding, it's 100% pink, in every direction, aside from some brief water patches that should also probably be pink, but I guess Minecraft doesn't know that. If your favorite color is pink, you might just have to come live here.

The Wither dimension

The infinite dimension doesn't just mess with blocks; it also messes with the weather, day/night cycles, and...mobs. That's all mobs, which means there's also a dimension that is filled with an army of very angry Withers that have nothing to do but blow stuff up. I don't think our guide on summoning and killing the Wither is going to be of much help here. I'll just go back to the pink dimension, thank you very much.

The Overworld dimension

Every Minecraft player knows what the Overworld is. It is one of three dimensions that usually exist in Minecraft and is the one where you should be spending most of the time. But of course, there's an alternative Overworld dimension that looks nothing like you expect it to. A cap of bedrock that hides a secret underground world that's bright and cheery and oddly alluring, one that makes you question everything you've ever thought you knew about Minecraft? Yes, that's exactly what it is.

The ant dimension

I'm not sure what this dimension actually has to do with the six-legged destroyer-of-your-pantry, but if you type "ant" in a book and use it on a nether portal, it brings you...somewhere. Where? No idea, but if you're very patient, some kind of design gets drawn into the world around you. Maybe if you wait for it to finish, it'll eventually resemble an ant? Again, I have no idea on this one. I'll let you decide.

The piston dimension

The piston dimension is, in fact, a dimension full of pistons, so the description matches the title (although I guess we should be thankful the same doesn't hold true for the ant dimension.) The pistons aren't all there, though. And I don't mean they've gone crazy from being trapped in a ridiculous world, I mean they quite literally are missing half of themselves. This dimension leans heavily on using the wooden end of pistons, which I assume has a name, but I'm not smart enough to know it.

The colorful dimension

The last two dimensions I fancied enough to showcase aren't wacky, zany, or other words no average human should use in day-to-day conversation but are quite beautiful. This one has a unique color scheme and a rapid day/night cycle because all this world wants to do is show you how good it looks in every lighting. I imagine you'd get as tired of the passing of time in this dimension as the sun is tired of having whiplash, but it's very pretty while you're there.

The beautiful dimension

The last stop on this crazy train (the next song I'm going to listen to) is the most average world on this list, but only because infinite possibilities also means including all the worlds and possibilities we are familiar with. This one just happens to be gorgeous, with long, sloping arches supporting suspended continents of dirt and stone. Would I be comfortable living underneath all of that? Absolutely not. Would I be in awe as I was crushed to death by the fifteenth cave-in that day? Probably.
