Archos has decided to help a new education effort in France with a selection of Windows 8.1 tablets and notebooks that it will offer to schools in its native country at special prices. This new program is designed to be a part of France's "Grand Digital for Schools Project" which is aiming to give 50,000 tablets and notebooks to middle and high-school students in 2015 and over a million such devices to students in 2016.
Archos will offer a 9-inch Windows tablet to those schools for the price of €200. It will also offer a 10-inch Windows 8.1 tablet for the price of €250 and a 14-inch notebook for €300. It added that it will offer schools a number of preinstalled programs on those devices, such as:
- Applications Kiosk: For Android tablets, ARCHOS will offer an applications Kiosk grouping together the best education applications available on the Google Play store. The educator can easily access content adapted to their curriculum and lessons.
- Preloaded Content: ARCHOS will let each academy create their own digital work space by preloading on each tablet or computer links to their own work space.
- Fleet Management: solutions adapted to allow local administrators to manage the installed tablet or notebook remotely.
More information on Archos' education plans will be revealed in March.
