Dave the Diver shadow drops on Xbox — Nearly three years after its initial launch, Xbox players can enjoy this charming fishing and restaurant management game
Nearly three years after its initial launch, Dave the Diver is finally coming to Xbox, and it's bringing DLC with it.
For three years, Xbox fans have watched and waited for Dave the Diver to come to Xbox Series X|S.
Now, that patience has paid off with this popular fishing and sushi restaurant management gaming shadow dropping on Xbox Series X|S today, following the Xbox Partner Preview.
This news was playfully announced by showing Dave the Diver holding the Xbox Ally X, indicating that it's the perfect game to play on a handheld gaming PC.
Additionally, we also got a look at Dave the Diver's upcoming In the Jungle DLC, which brings the colorful cast of characters to a village in a distant jungle. There, players can interact with new characters and catch freshwater fish rather than only having access to the saltwater fish in the base game. The DLC is coming early 2026.
Xbox fans have been waiting roughly three years, and they're the last to dive in
In case you didn't know, Dave the Diver was originally released for PC via Steam in January 2023 before coming to Switch in October 2023. It even landed on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 the following April 2024, so Xbox players have been waiting a long time for this charming adventure to come to their preferred console.
In other words, it's taken 34 months, or 2.8 years, for Dave the Diver to finally come to Xbox, and I can't wait to dive in.
What's more, Dave the Diver is an Xbox Play Anywhere title, which means if you own one copy of it, you'll be able to play it across PC, console, and compatible handheld gaming PCs.

I'm finally going to remove this game from my backlog

I personally haven't played Dave the Diver yet, but I'm definitely going to be checking it out. It was already on my backlog, and this new development just raises it even higher on the ever-growing pile.
From what I understand, there are a few reasons people love this game. One of those is clearly evident to me, just at first glance. I love the pixel-art style and variety of characters that I see in each screenshot.
Of course, the pixel art style with 3D elements has always satisfied some nostalgic part of me, similarly to how Square Enix's HD-2D games like Octopath Traveler tickle my fancy.
Then there's the in-game fishing and underwater exploration, which give players a satisfying way to collect things. But gameplay doesn't just stop at fishing since you get to work on managing a sushi restaurant at night.
Lastly, and this is the thing I'm excited to check out for myself, the game apparently has some really quirky moments with memorable characters who I'm excited to meet.
Nothing makes a game more memorable than having both interesting mechanics and intriguing characters that keep you coming back for more.
Remember, you can dive into Dave the Diver on Xbox Series X|S, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2. It's an Xbox Play Anywhere title, so you can play it across platforms as well.
Happy fishing to all my fellow new divers!
