  • thats not a phone anymore. Its a tablet with WP10 on it.
  • The specs just spelled a word in my head: disappointing
  • It is a new category - 'Tablet-Phone'.
  • It's called a phablet and it is not new. Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
  • The 2850 battery in a 7 inch phone is enough to scare me away. Seriously nine a 7 inch device why isn't there a 400 or 4500 in there. What a joke. And they could have done with a much better screen res
  • Aw man. They could have gone with a higher resolution
  • Yep, at least 1920x1080. Full HD should be the minimum for that screen size and price range :-(
  • $304 for a a Snapdragon 220 and a 5 megapixel camera? Yeah right.
  • My thoughts exactly.. Wow..
  • When they may sell 100 units, that's not a bad price.  That's the issue with pricing... volume really impacts it.  Sell 10 million and you can get a massive pricing reduction. The only pricing model that works under current volumes is for manufacturers of Android phones also sell a Windows 10 version - same hardware, different OS.  Perhaps having Microsoft do the OS integration so it's good quality too.  Then they can just sell two versions, potentially in different markets to make it not so obvious.  Main cost difference then is packaging, and if you keep that generic it can almost just be a label and paper booklet change.
  • Actually the price is 130 USD. You can check it from the link below: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/6-98-Inch-OGS-Cube-WP10-Phone-Call-Talet-...
  • What exactly is a SD220 though?
  • You forget about one key detail -- VAT, usually about 20 in Europe. This is why we have free universal medical care and pensions and people in the US don't.
  • Well I live in Canada and we have both of those (universal healthcare and pensions) without VAT.. So what's the point of VAT again?
  • VAT is just a way of tax application that makes it harder for rich people to avoid as it is paid on goods at time of purchase
  • It's a blind tax. It doesn't distinguish poor from rich. Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
  • 'Muricaaaaa
  • My Lumia 650 is better.
  • Definitely !!
  • fact
  • SD212 vs this magical 220? I don't think your 650 is better.
  • Uugh! Those specs made me cringe. I mean...this is just going to give WM a bad name I think. I guess they have a target market for this.
  • Yeah.... Idiots.
  • So it's competing against iPhone then.
  • Lols. I see what you did there.
  • Lol @ the I-diot market. But seriously, what am I gonna do with a 7" wpm PHONE when I already have an 8" full windows 8 tablet with a 2G ram and 32 gig drive?
  • Nice phone, weak specs
  • What part about the phone is nice? Resolution? No. Processor? Guess again. Ram? Nada.....
  • the looks
  • Lol. Ridiculous specs...
  • Wow that sucks
  • Ok... I'm happy with my 640 -.-
Just cost me like 150€ almost 2years ago
  • Slightly one year ago.
  • Not for that price
  • They can keep it... O----o
  • Large screen, low resolution can't be good and isn't adreno 220 like htc sensation
  • Why would anyone want to have 7" phone? You would have to re-build your pocket for that :D
  • All the ladies are carrying a purse/bag. Their pockets are already to small for 4" phones.
  • They note 7 fits in your pocket easily. I'd be all over a 7"... if it doesn't have a bezel it wouldn't be an issue fitting in a pocket. Bigger screens are awesome for multi tasking and watching movies/YouTube Posted via

  • I agree. My pipe dream is for two sizes of the Surface phone....one being in the 6.5" range.
  • No, I'm not happy to see you, that's a phone in my pocket.
  • I would like a 7" phone, I just don't understand why these companies keep pairing every phone larger than 6" with piss poor hardware.
  • I think I am jumping on the waiting for Surface Phone bandwagon. It's my last hope for a better camera zoom than the 1020. Plus, maybe the OS will be ready by then.
  • Same trend for years and one of the prime reasons why Nokia killed other OEM's. 3rd party OEM's almost always put the minimum effort into their Windows phones then overcharge for it which means nobody buys it then they disappear. No point repeating that its huge John, this device wont sell.
  • Yep, it's silly for MS to claim it's stepping back to let other OEMs have a chance. Their phones suck, that's why Nokia sold +90% of all WPs.
  • Nokia did that with Microsoft's money... that's what killed Windows phones. Other oem's were at a competitive disadvantage and they abandoned wp Posted via

  • You could use it as an e book reader but still not worth it
  • Yeah, that remembers me when big company releases a crapply done app then remove it from the store because no one downloaded it. Here we have a phone that will probably not sell well because of its specs and then they'll say wm10 is crap cause no one buy wm10 phones...
  • It reminds me of Netbooks. Remember those? Full Windows XP OS on low resolution, slow processor, low memory devices. We all know what iPads did to them.
  • My brother has got the Samsung A9 (6" screen, and 1080p resolution) it does not suffice. Anything 5.7"+ should have 1440p resolution.
  • The screen on my 1520 is beautiful and its 1080p resolution on a 6in screen. I bet most 1520 owners would agree.
  • It doesn't matter if someone would agree. The difference between my L950 and Samsung A5 (same screen size, but 1080p on the A5) is visible. 1080p is ok for the 5.2" screen though, maybe even 5.5, but any size starting 5.7" or more, with lower res, is incomparable to 1440p.
  • If I could change one thing on my 950 XL it would have a 1080p screen instead of 1440p. Better performance and battery life. The difference in quality between my 1520 and 950 XL does not matter. Imho of course.
  • Dude you've got state of the art hardware in your XL, you cannot claim that it does not fully handle anything thrown at it...
  • Do you even own a 950 xl? It doesn't fully handle web browsing for one. Try this site. I love the phone but would have loved it more with a 1080p screen for sure. But 720p on a 7" screen is not good.
  • I own a 950XL and it indeed handle web browsing very well. This site? My HP i3 laptop using Firefox do not handle well. My cousin's S6 edge with Chrome does not handle well. Safari in all form factors stutters.
  • Yeah, the WC web site is really sort of slow and clunky. Now that the W10 app is running better I use it almost exclusively.
  • I dont have the XL, I have the 950 abd it works great. However, your "probe" - run wc site, is a wrong way of testing phone's screen hardware.
  • My 950 XL handles any website wonderfully
  • Yeah...besides: When was surfing the web a benchmark test for anything?
  • Ahem, I have 950 and 1520 and 920. Fact is, even when 950 has brilliant resolution, at this size it just doesn't matter. 1520 display is sufficiently sharp, 950 just uses too much energy for very little more. Full HD is plenty up to 12".
  • If you favor or not being able to tell the difference 367ppi over 564ppi, the only logical explanation would be is that your vision is impaired.
  • Haha, to be fair, it does.
  • Or at least an option within the OS
  • The difference is visible. But is it bad to use in 1080p? That matters. And honestly a 1440p on any phone hits the battery more than 1080p.
  • True regarding battery, but other than that, jump to 1440p is a concern for gamers, not phone users...
  • I'm with you. I "upgraded" from a 1520 to a 950 and really miss my 1520. Don't get me wrong, I do like my 950, but I really really liked my 1520.
  • Why didn't you go with a 950 XL?
  • Yeah, I had a 640. A 5" screen is about the limit for 720P. (One of the biggest shortcomings of the 640 XL, IMO.) I recently went to a 950 with a slightly bigger 5.2" with a 1440P screen and you can really tell the difference in clarity. Especially when reading text.
  • I can only imagine how pixelated that will look. That's horrible. It's like companies want WM to fail Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
  • Some commonplace Chinese OEM have been doing the same to android from time immemorial. I feel that they have recently decided to bring WM into the fray, which isn't so good. So I don't think it's a problem peculiar to WM.
  • Brrr. That sux. The big sloap
  • It is not all a great phone.
  • Perfect size for me, but worthless specs :/ would like a 950xl with that screensize and full hd display
  • The specifications are a bit underwhelming but I like the look of the device.
  • Nadella's MasterMind plan is working perfectly as OEM's are coming onboard with quality offerings. Windows mobile market share will be in double digits very soon.
  • Retrench! :)
  • Lol....Smartass
  • "Mobile is not our focus right now." No kidding!
  • Yeah the 950's screen is really nice for sure! Just making the point that I can't see pixels on the 1520. Cheers!
  • This cube fell waaaay flat.
  • How r updates on such phones?
  • Very weak specs and camera
  • Cube is awful
  • The other AliExpress site has the same phone listed for $130
  • Whats the other AliExpress site?
  • Spanish site

  • They're calling it a tablet, not a phone...lol
  • +1 Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
  • I expected better from a 7 in phone. Not that I would buy a phone from a company in China. My luck, the Chinese government would have a backdoor installed in the firmware for easier spying.
  • Only $100 more gets you a Lumia 950 with much better specs.  pretty sad for a phone this size that had the potential of surprising the market.  Well, i guess it does surprise, just not in a good way.
  • Those specs are disappointing. :( It needs to have a full HD screen, snapdragon 4xx chip and a camera as good as on my 640XL at least before this phone would appeal to me. XD
  • Xiomi as a big and reputable Chinese OEM should come up with a greatly spec'd windows mobile phone. I could just buy one to help boost sales. Lol.
  • Why make a phone this big with such terrible hardware who is this for, I see this being for tablet users except it lacks desktop apps unlike other Windows tablets
  • Yep, the size is a waste. This is more passable with a smaller phone.
  • The phone probably works pretty good with th 2 gig ram and I had an LG with a 5 mp camera that took very nice photos. A bit pricey though and with a huge screen that battery is probably a little on the light side. It's not for me.
  • It's a low end phablet
  • Very disappointing :(
  • I feel like cube sells tablets running full windows with better specs and for less than this phone. Their i7 stylus or w.e has a core m processor and at least 1080p screen from what I recall and was 299. Idk how they justify the price for this.
  • What kind of joke is that my friends Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
  • Nadella for sure is rofling.
  • Lol!
  • It's out of stock!
  • My thoughts? Most underwhelming. Even than a 650 and that's something.
  • That's ridiculous for that price. If Microsoft is expecting the OEMs to make smartphones and things like this keep coming Windows Mobile will die, hard
  • Just like their numerous tablets, there but just not there..
  • ROFLMAO. Ridiculous and horrid spec sheet.... Low battery, huge low resolution screen and that SOC. ROFLMAO! Bunch of trash released by these OEM wanted by Satya Nadella!
  • ... That's a tablet that acts like a phone... Seriously ppl? Got nothing against it, but at least CALL it a phablet...
  • Ohhhhh dear......
  • Design: Great Screen: Too much Camera: **** Battery: Okay RAM: Okay Processor: Dissapointing Btw, anyone else bothered by the fact that it says WP10 on the back instead of W10? Because its Windows 10 Mobile not Windows phone anymore?
  • "previously announced Cube WP10 phone with Windows 10 Mobile." The phone model is WP10.
  • Yes I know and its not secret why the model is called "WP 10" right? I am sure it means Windows phone 10 which like I previously stated is outdated.
  • Yes, it is a "Windows" phone, not a "Windows Phone" phone, LOL!
  • Weak
  • wow!
  • My search shows 130$ https://m.ru.aliexpress.com/item/32722147192.html?aff_click_id=0a4b7cea4...
  • That seems like it could be on the sluggish side.
  • Give them a break! At least they are making new devices right!
  • So they're trying to sell a $100 for $300?  a BLU studio 7.0 cost $109 on amazon.
  • No, it is actually selling for $130 right now on aliexpress. At that price what is not to like.
  • If this tablet/phablet sells well in that market Cube will make more competitive devices. Also other chinese makers will start to follow.
  • Ufffff
  • Just think how cool you'll look taking that 7" out of your pocket. Just don't turn it on.
  • Lol!!!! But, Does it Support continuum?
  • No.
  • I would be interested in a tablet like this if the aspect ratio was different and the CPU slightly better.
  • The other dissapointing issue is that Microsoft allows such low spec devices run W10 Mobile, while refuses to update higher spec devices running Wp 8.1
  • Good point made
  • Snapdragon 220? This chip wasn't even announced. What does it contain?
  • It is actually a 212 from what I can figure, basically a 210 with slightly higher clock
  • Yeah. It must be 212. There is no 220 lol
  • But wait. Are you sure theirs is the real SD and not a MEDIATEK snapdragon-wannabe?
  • Considering the processor spec and battery capacity, they did well to fit such an enormous screen.  It's not for me but more choice and exposure of W10M in the market place is a good thing.  Nobody complains that there are so many cheap Andorid devices out there to choose from (except maybe Android developers).  A lot of people don't have big budgets or the need for high-end specs so there's a place for a big screen with modest internals to keep the price down.
  • Why do huge phones and small tablets always have crappy specs? I want the biggest screen I can pocket and 6.5-7" seems to be about it. I went from a 1520 to a 950xl and that was jarring. My phone is my only computer now, so hopefully these large devices get better specd. Hopefully the surface phone isn't tiny
  • LTE?
  • I think not. It looks like a dual sim though
  • Could someone tell me the amount of cores and what adreno the snapdragon 220 has? Thanks
  • Specs aren't published for the SD 220 that I can find. It does seem to be a quad core like the 210 or 212, but with more GPU power. https://www.qualcomm.com/news/onq/2011/03/01/snapdragon-adreno-220-gpu-p...
  • When in India. Great phone.
  • Lame!! Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
  • Does this phone have Continuum? If so $130 from AliExpress is well worth it!
  • It's a tablet.
  • I think people are missing who the target audience for this is. Users on an extreme budget that can only afford one device. Just the one and it has to do everything for them. They save up until it hurts, but they need some kind of tech to participate in the modern world. That's why a 7" screen with these specs and OS. Comm and productivity. This user will not have a phone and a tablet. They wont have a laptop or PC to fall back on. This is it. They make this one tech purchase to run their life and participate in the cloud so they can achieve. If they are forced to choose only one device the 7" screen is a blessing to them. Try and get through school or run a self-employed  business where you are everything from the CEO down to the floor sweeper and be competitive and successful on a 4" screen. Go ahead. Scoff all you want. You may not need this, but there is a need for this.
  • I wont last enev for 6 hrs
  • There are scores of tablets from.China which are way better than this one in every which way.
  • Except this one is also a phone
  • Love the size but the rest isn't interesting
  • For the price and those specs: Hell freaking no.
  • Yeah...battery feels like joke. Resolution? Like year 2013 is back again. Why put a effort to do that kind of stuff anymore! Hey, we have almost 2017 here... I would pay 85€ not more!
  • Hmmm...for about the same price, you could probably find a Lumia 1520, with 32GB, on Amazon or elsewhere. I guess they didn't want to go too big on specs, because of price and the phones doesn't sell well.
  • Well, I took one for the team, and just bought one of these. I know. I know. The specs are horrid. The screen is junk. It's gigantic. The list goes on and on.
In 6 to 13 days, I'll share the love. :D
  • If it has an NA radio... Greywolf will be very interested. Look forward to the review.
  • Likewise! The Spanish AliExpress site now shows the listing that worked out to $180 CDN as no longer available, but I ordered on this morning for a review unit. I'm honestly curious to see what it looks like. I would say the specs are budget/entry level, but not horrid. My "secondary" TV is an 8 year old 720p 42" and I would not call the picture horrid on day to day use, not unless you set it right beside a newer 1080p or 4k display, and likewise, a huge majority of Windows Mobile devices in the wild yet are either 512mb or 1GB Ram...so 2GB is acceptable. I guess we'll see when it arrives!
  • I agree with you. I'm genuinely kinda excited to get this. Just trying to keep my expectations in check.
  • Hahahaha! This is a ridiculous phone. Low specs, no thanks
  • Well that was a letdown. You'd think a 7" phone would at least get a 1080p screen.
  • This is the future of Microsoft. Cheap windows phones from unknown Chinese manufacturers, low cost, huge screens, useless devices due to low speed, no Continuum for many people. Like no Cortana for Windows phone 8.1. Like no Cyan update for others, while the rest of the planet already had updated to Denim. Well, counting days for Nokia's return and I will be reading Android Central.
  • After reading the specs I could not help but to laugh. Oh so little for a big ass device. I'll continue to look for my next Windows 10 Mobile, elsewhere.
  • I'd be all over this as a nice low-end device to offer some of my relatives if not for the ridiculous pricing...
  • A 5MP rear and front camera? Snapdragon 220 processor? Why would anyone want this thing?
