  • The new Omen 25L is expected Spring 2022 with prices to be revealed closer to launch.

Along with the mighty new Omen 45L gaming desktop, HP has announced an update to the smaller Omen 25L at CES 2022. Originally launched early 2021, the Omen 25L is a perfect option for anyone not looking to spend obscene amounts of money on a pre-built while still getting modern performance and a comprehensive design.

That design is better than ever thanks to a new optional Ceramic White color for the outside of the case, as well as a side panel now available in glass or metal depending on your preference. If you do go with the glass panel, it will show off the optional customizable RGB lighting via HP's Omen Gaming Hub and Omen Light Studio software that's included. In terms of optional RGB lighting, it appears that the RAM, CPU cooler, and system fans can include it.

Accompanying the standard CPU coolers — one a 120mm RGB liquid cooler and one a 92mm air cooler with optional RGB — is a new air cooler with dual heatpipes and optional RGB lighting. The front system fan has also been upsized to 120mm for better intake. The system also includes a standard 92mm exhaust fan on the back.

The new Omen 25L will be customizable with up to a 12th Gen Intel Core i7-12700 CPU (no overclocking), as well as AMD Ryzen 5 and Ryzen 7 APUs (including integrated graphics) and Ryzen 5 CPU. These chips will be accompanied by up to a NVIDIA RTX 3080 GPU or AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT GPU, up to 64GB of HyperX DDR4-3200 ARGB RAM, and up to a 1TB WD Black M.2 PCIe SSD and 2TB HDD. This should make it a close match for the best gaming desktop PCs.

System upgradeability is generous, allowing you to keep the system relevant longer into the future. The Omen 25L uses a standard Micro ATX board without a weird proprietary shape, and it fits up to a 155mm ATX PSU.

The front of the system holds just one 120mm fan, the top holds another 120mm fan, and the rear holds the single 92mm exhaust fan. There's space up top for a radiator that's 67mm thick, and there's 144mm of CPU air cooler clearance. The GPU slot has space for a 288mm GPU, there are two M.2 PCIe 4.0 SSD slots, and there's a tray for a 2.5- or 3.5-inch drive. The Omen 25L is expected Spring 2022, with prices being revealed closer to launch.
