Seagate SSDSource: Seagate Game Drive SSD

A few months ago, I reviewed the Seagate Xbox Game Drive SSD and adored the speed boosts it provided. However, the price back then was utterly shocking, with a $600 tag for the 2TB version. Enter Black Friday.

As of writing, the price on both the 1TB and 2TB models have come down significantly from their launch price tag, clocking in at $215 and $340 respectively, bringing them in-line with the non-Xbox branded models. However, Black Friday pushes those savings down even further, making the 1TB model $170 and the 2TB model $300. Considering the boosted loading speeds, sleek design, small footprint, and extra storage space, there's likely not going to be a better time to pick up this SSD for the foreseeable future. Seagate also throws in 2 months of Xbox Game Pass to sweeten the deal.

Here's a look at some of the speed tests were able to do compared to an Xbox One X HDD (if you're using an Xbox One S, the gains will be even bigger).

Game Xbox One X Seagate SSD
Assassin's Creed Odyssey 2 minutes 32.5 seconds 1 minute 37.25 seconds
Nier: Automata 1 minute 37.46 seconds 1 minute 7.75 seconds
Shadow of the Tomb Raider 2 minutes 6.55 seconds 1 minute 1.32 seconds
State of Decay 2 3 minutes 22.79 seconds 1 minute 43.15 seconds

Seagate also offers cheaper SSDs for internal use, such as this 1TB Barracuda, which when combined with a cheap USB enclosure like this one from Orico, you can gain similar speeds while making large savings. If you don't fancy the added hassle though, the Game Drive SSD is a great option (and looks pretty awesome too).
