Borderlands 3 pre-load now live, requires 40 GB on Xbox One X

What you need to know

  • Borderlands 3 is an upcoming open-world shooter from Gearbox Software.
  • The game launches on Xbox One and PC on Friday.
  • The title is available for pre-load on the console now.
  • You can preorder Borderlands 3 for $60 through the Microsoft Store.

A few months ago, Gearbox Software unveiled Borderlands 3 for Xbox One, PC, PlayStation 4, and Google Stadia. The game takes place on multiple planets and features numerous alien vaults. It's by far the biggest Borderlands game yet, and it looks like the team has nailed it once again.

So far, all the reviews of the game have been on PC. This was probably the case because the final version hadn't been uploaded to the Microsoft Store. However, that changed last night. Lots of users reported on social media that the placeholder file that's usually 100 MB was updated to a massive 40 GB download.

2K Games has said that we should get early access to the console version on September 12. Hopefully, the title will be a polished experience. As soon as we're able to test this out, we'll let you know.

The reviews situation is quite bizarre for the game and we'll get one up as soon as we've played the Xbox One version enough. It'll take a few days, but it'll be interesting to see how the 4K resolution and 30 frames per second (FPS) and 1080p 60 FPS modes stack up.
