The 2.9.1 update for Fenice should be going live in the next few hours so check the Store in a bit to grab the latest version (it was just published to the Store).

We're super excited to see Windows Hello authentication being used as it's one of the first Twitter apps to do so – definitely let us know in comments what you think of it!

Also, as a small note for you graphic designers out there, the developer behind Fenice is looking for some help on a new logo. Have some ideas? Try and reach him through @FeniceWindows to lend a hand.

Fenice runs for $1.99 as like all third-party Twitter apps they have to contend with Twitter's developer token restriction. Is it worth the $2? We think so especially if you are looking for something with a little more oomph than the official Twitter app.

Bonus: We have ten free codes for Fenice we'll be giving away later this evening. We'll update this article at 8 PM ET (1 AM GMT, 6:30 AM IST) with a list of 10 codes. Whoever enters the code in first, gets a free license!

Update: Here are 10 free codes. These will go within in seconds, so once they are gone, they're gone!

  • Nice
  • The makes makers for tubecast has just release PlayCast for Windows and windows 10 mobile and it is awesome
  • PlayCast? Like MiroCast??
  • It was released weeks ago
  • Half of the news in Windows Central are about third party Twitter apps. These guys are the biggest twitter fans.
  • Nice, what happened to the store link or Windows phone store?
  • Now, I'm looking forward to an article about the comparison between Tweetium, Fenice and Aeries.
  • Yup, please consider a comparison between well-maintained universal Twitter clients
  • The former (unfortuately, as it's my favorite) might end up being irrelevant with the developer heading back to Microsoft full-time.
  • Wow
  • I didn't pay for this post
  • Mate, the streaming isn't working properly. Also I've to launch the app twice for it to work. The latest update is no good.
  • If you have no clue, don't comment.
  • So you are saying that his app need to be perfect, free of bugs otherwise he can't charge for it? Do you know how hard it is to develop an app of your own? If he paid for the article, which you really have no clue and he already said he didn't, what is the matter? He would be marketing his product, I'd do the same. And I never got any of these issues except the photo uploading bug sometimes.
  • No download link on Windows Central app
  • Tweetium or Fenice?
  • Have both pinned to my start screen. I tend to use fenice more.
  • Fenice for me.
  • That's very cool. More apps using Hello please! Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
  • Where would you need to enter the code?
  • Why can't they make these apps free to download rather than making excuses for leaving the platform with lower downloads.
  • Blame Twitter. They put the restrictions on the developers of 3rd party Twitter apps.
  • Why are you being a cheap guy and ignoring an indie developer's work? How much it costs? 1,2,3 dollars? You can't pay that much? Why you Indians want everything free? Is that why you buy Android? Shame on you!
  • Ha-ha Posted via the Windows Central App for Nexus 5x
  • Sweeping racist generalisation there. Can we say, all Americans love a bit of friendly fire?? Thought not..... Hope there is room in your closet for your white robes. ;)
  • Hi,how I can buy from the store like prepaid card for the Xbox live or with Debit card,PayPal???
  • Watch your tone.
  • I want it free too! And Im finnish! :D
  • I don't think this dev is going anywhere
  • You go to work for free and then ask for everything to be free. Ugh
  • Why don't you do your job for free?
  • Is everyone here is to insult and disrespect people from different race or country. What a shame on you people who just think they are on the high side and others are poor.
  • I don't care what country you come from, this entitlement attitude that these developers shouldn't ever make any money is ridiculous. I suggest that anyone who thinks so, should go learn to code and develop an app. Then put out a beta, so people can do their stupid "Soon", copy/paste, or get it out quickly so people can unleash the "useless" on you, for daring to leave out a feature. If you're lucky enough to get WC to review it, you get to hear what everyone's favorite app is, in your category...or they'll moan about "official" or even some unrelated topic. **Remember** DO NOT charge anything or have any ads, because the cheap, freeloaders will banter on with their "Make it FREE" nonsense. I used to want to learn to code, but these attitudes don't make it seem like it's worth the effort.
  • Ain't developers make money with free apps. I just want to say by making these apps free there will be more download counts and more money making to the developer. And what do you think is the purpose of giving free codes here.
  • Get the **** out of here "Varnit". The only way a free Fenice would make money is with ads. **** that. Doesn't paying the price of a coffee just one time seem like a much better deal?
  • Why do you fear off with the adds . Do they take a f*** out of you?
  • I use Tweetium (Desktop & WP) and Aeries (WP) regularly. I did try Fenice in the past but will have to give it another look based on this update. I don't mind using & paying for multiple similar apps because supporting good devs on Windows platform is crucial to its survival.
  • I like fenice best now! Also use Tweetium but fenice seems to have surpassed it in design, usability and functionality now.
  • Still no fix for the bug that causes app crash every time you try to upload a picture to twitter. Also "settings" area seems to be blank now and if you press your profile icon in the top left, app crashes. I love the looks, but too many bugs..
  • Always the issue with these unofficial apps. The real Twitter app may be very shy of features but at least its stable.
  • Yeah, shy on features and ugly.. But it works!
  • Think I've found the cause.
    Alessandro
  • Are you able to start reading tweets from last position you leave the app like in tweetium? Would be nice to know :)
  • Anyone else having an empty settings page after updating? (L950XL)
  • Seems to be fixed in v.2.9.2.
  • Just downloaded and got empty settings on my 640?
  • Now i need photos app that uses windows hello to access it Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
  • Smart idea
  • The app always launches at the top of the feed list. Is anyone aware of a way to make it start from the last read tweet?
  • This. I want the same.
  • Ok, smarty pants. When will Windows Central app update so mobile users get same opportunities as desktop browsers? Seems we have waited forever for your universal app.
  • It'll never ever, until release of W10 M.
Wait & see term, "Coming Soon®™"
    ©Microsoft | ©Windows Central
  • So clever. Do you put that on copy/paste to use over and over?
  • Huhhhh. Yup!
  • Ta very much windows central, installing as I type this
  • I guess I am too late any more codes p[lease
  • Can it view multiple photos in a tweet now?
  • Hmmm...let's test it and find out?
  • What if windows hello integrated in the whatsapp!!that will be cool...
  • No app I uninstalled faster then this one after trial
  • Because it hurt your eyes to see such good apps on Windows?
  • 1 am gmt. I mean? Really. There is nore in the world than usa -_-. Ah well
  • Does this mobile version integrate also to People app, like original Twitter? If not, it should
  • Cant see replied messages on a post?
  • The app is more unstable now. I have to launch the app twice to start. Also the streaming has stopped working.
  • Fenice..i don't know why it's called that..
Twitter resembles a bird. There is no fenice word in the dictionary..and Fenice sounds like....
  • Live tiles don't work. Notifications only occur every 15mins yet official app is in real time. Refund needed.
  • If you want real time notifications then go check out twittone. Its a beta but still better then official twitter app. Also it's on sale.
