CM Punk will be the focus of WWE 2K26's Showcase mode. In this mode, players will get to relive CM Punk's most memorable matches with CM Punk himself narrating over the events.
Plus, players will get to experience fantasy matches against opponents CM Punk never got to wrestle, and 'What if?' scenarios of matches CM Punk could have had if he hadn't left WWE in 2014.
WWE 2K26: Roster, New Match Types and gameplay updates
WWE 2K26 will feature a roster of 400 playable characters, ranging from iconic wrestlers to newcomers, and secret surprises. Some of the newcomers are Joe Hentry (as a pre-order bonus DLC character), Ray Phoenix, Rusev, and Izzy Dane.
Now we're onto gameplay additions and changes. Firstly, WWE 2K26 will include four new match types: Inferno, Three Stages of Hell, I Quit, and Dumpster Matches.
Inferno matches have you surrounded in a ring where you have to set your opponent on fire to win.
I Quit matches have you forcing your opponent to say 'I quit' into a microphone to win, and Dumpster matches have you shoving your opponent into a dumpster to win.
Three Stages of Hell is a massive gauntlet where a player must win two out of three different match types in a row.
Additionally, intergender matches have returned from WWE 2K25 and are available across all core game modes.
Other gameplay updates include:
- Thumbtacks
- Shopping carts
- Stackable tables
- Revamped reversal and stamina systems.
- Surprise attacks.
- Improvements crown and barricade combat.
- Booker T and Wade Barrett as commentators.
- Interactive entrances.
- A new start-of-match mode where you can throw cheap shots, show respect to your opponent, and perform other interactions before kicking off a match.
WWE 2K26: MyRise, MyGM, MyFaction
The series' stable MyGM, MyRise, and MyFaction modes are back with new updates.
The MyRise mode will feature two new division-based storylines where players can make evil or heroic choices that will impact their created character's journey. Plus, MyRise will now allow players to continue playing after the main storyline is over to earn cosmetics and achievements.
MyFaction will now include intergender matches, new 'quick swap' matches, new card designs to collect, and new features like MyFaction chemistry and run-in support.
MyGM will also include intergender matches along with more cross-band PLEs, 50-week seasons, more depth and strategy, and a new, harder AI difficulty setting for players to challenge themselves against.
WWE 2K26: The Island
WWE 2K25's The Island mode is back, but this time it will be available on PC as well as consoles.
In this mode, Roman Reigns is no longer the Tribal Chief, and 3 factions are vying to fill the power vacuum left behind.
Players can choose which faction to side with, explore a new Scrapyard Brawl map, take on new towers, and visit shops to buy branded gear.
Additionally, the Superstar Builder has been expanded, face photo importing has been added, and quests have been improved with cutscenes and dialogue screens.
WWE 2K26: Universe Mode and Creation Suite
WWE 2K's sandbox-style Universe Mode is receiving new changes to give players more creative options on how to shape their WWE storylines.
Firstly, the mode will now include the WWE Draft, improved Money in the Bank cash-ins, and new features like a universe creation wizard, a watch show mode, and additional promo types.
As for the Creation Suite, it has increased the number of Creative Superstars from 100 to 200, increased the number of creating image slots from 1000 to 2000, and now features deeper body and face morphing tools.
Are you ready for WWE 2K26 this March?
And that how about covers everything from the official reveal for WWE 2K26, and it's made a grand impression to say the least. New match types, over 400 playable characters, and all the other gameplay additions look so cool and fun to play.
My most anticipated aspect is this entry's MyRise with its two brand storylines. I really enjoyed the insane, over-the-top stories of WWE 2K25's MyRise mode, so I can't wait to see WWE 2K26's MyRise plans to top it and what diverging story paths it will feature.
WWE 2K26 is set to release on March 3, 2026, for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Windows and Steam.
Are you excited to play WWE 2K26 now that it's fully revealed? What do you think of the new match types and gameplay additions?
