WWE 2K26 is drawing closer to its March 13, 2026, release date on home consoles and PC.

So, 2K game has decided to stoke the fires of hype further by providing its second Ringside Report on the game.

Similar to WWE 2K25's Showcase Mode, WWE 2K26's Showcase Mode is an arcade mode/documentary chronicling the career of CM Punk, one of WWE's most popular Superstars.

The CM Punk Showcase will be broken into three segments: Historical Matches, Fantasy Warfare, and "What If" Matches.

Historical Matches

Historical Matches are 1:1 recreations of CM Punk's most famous wrestling matches that players will get to compete in and complete certain objectives to reenact iconic moments from them.

These Historical Matches include:

  • CM Punk vs. JBL (SummerSlam 2008)
  • CM Punk vs. Rey Mysterio (Armageddon 2008)
  • CM Punk vs. Randy Orton (WrestleMania 27)
  • CM Punk vs. Undertaker (WrestleMania 29)
  • CM Punk vs. John Cena (RAW Feb. 2013)
  • CM Punk vs. The Rock (Elimination Chamber 2013)
  • CM Punk vs. Brock Lesnar (SummerSlam 2013)
  • CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre (Bad Blood 2024)
  • CM Punk vs. Seth Freakin’ Rollins (RAW Jan. 2025)
  • CM Punk vs. Seth Freakin’ Rollins vs. Roman Reigns (WrestleMania 41)

Fantasy Matches

Next up we have Fantasy Matches, which has CM Punk square off against opponents who influenced his career that he'd always wished he had the chance to wrestle in WWE but never got the chance to in real life.

These Fantasy matches include:

  • CM Punk vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin (CM Punkvillion)
  • CM Punk vs. Eddie Guerrero (CM Punkvillion)
  • CM Punk & AJ Lee vs. The Miz & Maryse

"What If" Matches

Finally, we have "What If" Matches that let players experience wild wrestling caused by "What if" scenarios, such as what would've happened if CM Punk stayed in WWE instead of leaving it in 2014.

At the moment, we don't have a concrete list of what the rest of these "What If" scenarios could be (2K will reveal them at a later date.)

However, the Ringside Report trailer implies some of these scenarios may include what would have happened if CM Punk had his first Triple Threat match with Seth Freakin' Rollins and Roman Reigns at Wrestlemania 41 or what would've happened if CM Punk ended The Undertaker's Wrestlemania winning instead of Brock Lesnar.

Rewards and Gauntlet

Skip the story and fight a non-stop gauntlet to earn every reward. (Image credit: 2K)

Like past games, WWE 2K26's Showcase will reward players with various unlockable content for completing objectives and winning matches.

These unlockable rewards include playable legendary wrestlers, alternate attires, Managers, Championships, and Arenas.

However, WWE 2K26's CM Punk Showcase Mode has a little new surprise compared to previous Showcase Modes for those who want to skip the story and go straight for the rewards — The Gauntlet.

In this format, you will play as CM Punk or AJ Lee and fight through 20 WWE Superstars back to back instead of playing individual matches.

Completing this Gauntlet will unlock every reward the CM Punk Showcase has to offer, but there's a catch. If you lose against a single opponent, you will have to fight all 20 opponents again, so there's no room for error here.

What wild Alternate Universe scenarios and rewards await in WWE 2K26's CM Punk Showcase Mode?

Burn it down. (Image credit: 2K)

I enjoyed WWE 2K25's Showcase Mode last year, not only because it had some cool rewards but also because it paid homage to underrated legends like Rikishi and Umaga by allowing us to rewrite their history and win matches they should've won in the first place.

So I'm interested to see what "What If" scenarios and rewards the CM Punk Showcase will give us. I would love the chance for CM Punk to get back at Paul Heyman and Seth Rollins in WWE 2K26, after being robbed in real life during his first Wrestlemania main event after spending decades trying to get one.

Plus, if one of the rewards ends up being CM Punk's original entrance music, "This Fire Burns", I'll be more than happy to fight through 20 WWE Superstars to get it, because that's one of the best entrance themes in wrestling history.

Stayed tuned for more info as we cover more WWE 2K26 Ringside Reports in the lead up to the game's release on March 13, 2026, for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Windows and Steam.
