Like many regular consumers, you may be new to Alcantara – the synthetic fabric used by Microsoft and other premium brands. While it has been around for years, suddenly it seems to be everywhere including now sunglasses.
As spotted in our Surface user forums a few weeks back Ray-Ban has updated their iconic Wayfarer with an Alcantara finish. Moreover, one of the colors appears to exactly match the burgundy option for Surface Pro and Surface Laptop (Ray-Ban calls it "Bordeaux").
For $155 you could also grab the cloth-covered sunglasses in gray, black, or blue direct from Ray-Ban.
Sure, it may all be niche and even a bit silly. But if you're dropping $1,299 on a burgundy Surface Laptop and you like to be stylish, we can think of worse things. Just please, let's not do any Alcantara Uggs.
