It's Amazon Prime Day, which admittedly feels a tad dystopian in some way. But hey! We get an opportunity to spend our hard-earned cash on something a little cheaper in the process, so why not ey? Here are some of the best deals I've found for Xbox and gaming in general during the sales, from things I've personally used and can recommend.
- Add Alexa: Echo Dot
- Haunted controller: Phantom White Xbox One Controller
- Incredible value: Razer DeathAdder Elite
- Seagate option: Seagate SSD (1TB)
- Go portable: GAEMS Sentinel
- Lucid audio: LucidSound LS31 Wireless Headset
- SSD speeds: Samsung T5 Portable SSD (1TB)
- Best FPS: Battlefield V
- For the Horde: World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth
- Go vertical: PowerA Vertical Xbox Stand
- Apocalypse Now: Metro Exodus
- Best wired headset deal: HyperX Cloud II
The Echo Dot is down to its lowest price ever, and Alexa adds so much value to your Xbox experience that it's well worth looking at. With the Echo Dot, you can control your TV's audio, launch games, turn your Xbox on and off, and much more, all via voice commands. It's down to its lowest price ever.
Prime Day has significant savings for the Phantom White Special Edition Xbox One controller, complete with Bluetooth support and a bundled mono-piece chat headset for good measure.
16,000 DPI sensor, ergonomic design, robust quality, and insane Prime Day pricing, this is the best gaming mouse you'll be able to get during the sales.
This excellent Seagate SSD storage solution also comes with both a USB-C cable for use with contemporary devices, also with a USB 3.0 cable for use on older devices and video game consoles like the Xbox One. I personally use a variant of this SSD with my Xbox One and highly recommend it.
Is the Nintendo Switch not powerful enough for you? This surprisingly great TV-in-a-suitcase solution is $50 off for Prime Day and comes with a 1080p screen with the ability to strap in an Xbox One or PS4 console for some portable travel gaming.
The LucidSound LS31 is a versatile wireless headset with big comfort and big audio. Connected wireless with a USB dongle, the LS31's attractive design doesn't just end at its appearance. The audio quality and comfort are top-notch, and with savings of over $50, you'd be mad not to pick this headset up.
I've had an SSD for a while for use with my Xbox, and there are noticeable increases in load speed, even if its a tad bottlenecked by the USB format. Regardless, portable SSD storage tends to be on the more expensive side, until Prime Day that is! This 1TB option (with multiple colors) from Samsung is down to its lowest price ever.
It certainly isn't perfect, but Battlefield V still represents some of the most explosive competitive FPS action on Xbox One today, with stunning visuals and dynamic WW2 gameplay. Prime Day has the game for 50 percent off, making it a worthy purchase for someone who hasn't already taken the plunge.
As far as addictive games go, few are as notorious as World of Warcraft, and thanks to Prime Day, you can grab a look at the latest expansion for the lowest price yet. Battle for Azeroth's 8.2 patch includes all new areas, a new raid, a challenging 5-man "mega" dungeon, and much more.
Although the savings here are modest, if you were ever on the fence about trying to stand your Xbox One X upright, this vertical stand solution from Power A is on sale right now. Simply click it into the base of your Xbox One X, and bask in the vertical monolithic glory.
Apocalyptic FPS Metro Exodus is now 50 percent off for Prime Day, making it a worthy addition to anyone's physical game library. Set in an irradiated apocalyptic future, Metro Exodus follows a band of Russian survivors as they make their way out of Moscow, on the hunt for the remnants of human civilization.
The HyperX Cloud II is the best wired 3.5mm headset deal I've seen this Prime Day. Sporting immaculate comfort, high-quality construction, and incredible audio, the Cloud II from HyperX is 30 percent off making it a total steal for anyone wanting to bolster their Xbox or PC soundscape.
Top Prime Day picks
For me, the top pick is easily the savings on the Amazon Echo Dot. $22 to claw back some of that old Kinect-style voice functionality is a steal. If you set up your Xbox One correctly, you can use the Amazon Echo's voice controls not only to launch games, check your friends list, and browse Xbox Game Pass, but you can also connect up with the IR blaster on your TV. You can set it up so that simply saying "Alexa, turn on my Xbox" not only boots up your console, but also your TV. You can also configure Alexa to control the volume on your TV, as well as channel surf using the Xbox One's integrated HDMI pass-thru.
Next up, I'm a massive fan of LucidSound's headsets, and the LS31's $93 Prime Day price point is an incredible bargain. LucidSound has some of the most comfortable, attractive, and high-quality headset designs out there. Coupled with rock-solid wirelessness and astonishing audio, $93 for a headset this good, and this versatile is an absolute steal.
