The 2nd-generation Amazon Echo Show 8 smart speaker has dropped in price to $89.99 at Amazon. This is the lowest price ever for this smart speaker, and it matches a one-day sale we saw on Black Friday. The Echo Show 8 normally goes for around $130, and even when it does go on sale only drops to around $100. It's a fairly new smart speaker, too, having just been updated late last year. The first generation Echo Show 8 goes for around $70 right now, so you're paying just $20 extra today for a decent upgrade.

It's worth noting that every iteration of this speaker is on sale. You can get it in Charcoal or Glacier White. You can add six months of Amazon Music Unlimited for free. You can even get a Blink Mini camera added on for a bundled total of $114.98, which is down from a price closer to $165.

Hook up video doorbells, security cameras, smart lights and more through this smart speaker. Control your whole home, get daily recipes or your favorite music playlists with ease, and more. It's a great speaker at a great price.

The eight in the name doesn't indicate its generation but rather its screen size. The Echo Show 8 has an eight-inch HD touchscreen display with a 1200 x 800 pixel resolution. You'll also find two decently powerful stereo speakers, so you can get plenty of things displayed with the audio to accompany the visuals. That means you can do things like use this speaker in your kitchen to follow a YouTube recipe or view your security feed. Or just watch TikTok all day or something. It can be used to display your calendar and reminders or browse a photo album.

The speaker has Amazon Alexa built right in, too, so it essentially just becomes another part of your smart home. Talk to her like you would any full voice assistant. Ask for the news or the weather or play your favorite music. Control the lights and the temperature with a simple command if you want. It can even work with other smart gear like Blink security cameras so you can keep tabs on your home from anywhere.
