What you need to know

  • Star Wars: Squadrons was officially confirmed by EA after being leaked on the Xbox website.
  • A full reveal is coming on Monday, June 15.
  • We don't know too many details, but the game looks to focus on starfighting and aerial combat.

Shortly after prematurely popping up on Xbox's official website, Star Wars: Squadrons has been confirmed by EA. The company has plans for a larger reveal on June 15 and did not detail anything as of yet, but it looks to be a game that focuses on starfighting.

This is apparently the mysterious Project Maverick that EA Motive has been working on, which initially leaked via the PlayStation Network. The name appears to be a Top Gun reference, so that was really our first clue as to what it would be about.

EA's livestream for Star Wars: Squadrons is set to take place on Monday, June 15 at 8am PT / 11am ET. Because E3 was cancelled, EA plans to hold its annual EA Play event on June 18, at which point we'll probably learn more.

We don't know when the game plans to release, but fingers crossed it lands on store shelves this holiday in time for Xbox Series X and PS5.
