We're celebrating the Xbox launch of Oddworld: New n' Tasty with an exclusive interview!

270

Oddworld: New n' Tasty - the remake of the legendary PS1 title Abe's Oddysee is available now on the Xbox One store.

For those who don't know, Abe's Oddysee was a unique puzzle platformer from Oddworld Inc, and saw players guide the hapless mudokon Abe through a massive labyrinth of industrial plants, ancient temples and deadly wilderness. The original was crammed with secrets, and combat centred around evasion or luring enemies into environmental hazards.

Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee is one of my all-time favourite games, and it's with some excitement that I present my Q&A session with Bennie Terry, Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty Executive Producer for Xbox One.

Sports Jeopardy for Windows Phone - Doubling down on the Daily Double

1

Sports Jeopardy is a relatively new Windows Phone game that takes you on the set of the popular television game show Jeopardy to test your knowledge of the sports world.

The game follows the same format as the TV game show, has customizable characters, online gaming modes and some rather challenging trivia questions. While Sports Jeopardy is available for low-memory devices, the game has the potential of being a fantastic Windows Phone trivia game to test your sports knowledge. Unfortunately several performance issues are present that holds this game back considerably. At least on the Windows Phone side of the aisle.

It looks like Microsoft may be gearing to release a new set of Bing Maps apps in preview.

First spotted by Neowin, a new Microsoft website popped up today that details an upcoming Bing Maps Preview. There isn't much to glean from the site right now, but it does confirm that whatever Microsoft has up its sleeve will work across all major browsers on PC or tablet, with the exception of Safari, which is only supported on Mac.

Five great gaming laptops

Gamers on the go will want to check out these powerful laptops.

Consoles are far from the end-all be-all of gaming, and these laptops have the power to prove it. The latest graphics cards, giant displays, a wealth of inputs, and tailor-built keyboards are all expectations when it comes to machines of this caliber. Be warned: these laptops are bulky, power-hungry, and not cheap. On the upside, they'll offer almost all of the enjoyment you'd get out of a standard desktop gaming rig while you're out and about.

Poll: Do you need official apps so long as there are good third-party ones?

380

Earlier this week I wrote about how it'd been a full year since Instagram updated its official Windows Phone app and what we, the Windows Phone users could do about it if we were unhappy. Our advice was to use something like 6Tag, an excellent third-party solution but some of the comments on the post raised an interesting question. A question we're going to put to you, the Windows Central audience.

Do we really need official apps as long as there are good quality, third-party solutions available in the store?
