What you need to know

  • New World is an MMO being developed by Amazon Games Studios.
  • New World was previously delayed from May to August due to the global pandemic.
  • Today, the studio announced that New World is being delayed to sometime in Spring 2021.

If you've been waiting to get your hands on Amazon Games' upcoming MMO New World, you're going to be waiting a while longer. New World is being delayed to Spring 2021, per a letter from the studio director today. New World was previously delayed from May to August 25 as a result of the global pandemic affecting development. This decision was made as a result of feedback that has been gathered during the Alpha Test.

Director Rich Lawrence writes that "In particular, we want to ensure that the most dedicated players have plenty of middle and endgame experiences as they venture through Aeternum. We want our players to feel completely immersed in the game, and know that our studio stands for quality and lasting gameplay you can trust — and that means added time to get things where we want them before we fully release."

Anyone who has played the Alpha Test, signed up for the Beta Test or has preordered the game will be able to play New World as it is right now for a limited time starting on August 25. This process will be explained via an upcoming email.

Amazon Games isn't having a great year so far in 2020. Its arena shooter Crucible launched to a lackluster reception and has been taken back into closed beta testing. We'll continue to provide updates when new release dates are announced for these titles.
