What you need to know

  • A new firmware update is available for the Surface Pro X.
  • Both the SQ1 and SQ2 models of the Surface Pro X have updates.
  • The updates improve stability and fix several bugs.

The Surface Pro X has a new set of firmware updates available. Whether you have a Surface Pro X with an SQ1 processor or the refreshed Surface Pro X with an SQ2 processor, you should see an update for your device. As is normally the case with firmware updates, these updates include bug fixes and improve stability but don't have any new features.

While the original Surface Pro X and the Surface Pro X with the SQ2 processor each have an update available, they have different changelogs (opens in new tab) with different fixes and improvements.

  • Nothing here on my end. (SPX, SQ1)
  • Not here yet (SQ2 / SPX)
  • I have an SPX, SQ1 and I got the update yesterday. The eye contact feature is still less than impressive. I barely notice any difference at all. I don't know why in Teams, they just move the tile for the person that is speaking to the center top of the screen or at least give you the option to move the tile there, esp when somebody is presenting. As such, the tiles are all along the bottom edge, which makes everybody's gaze as far as possible from the camera. This AI gaze feature can't correct that problem. Hopefully the issue of my SPX going into hibernate instead of sleep is fixed. Settings are not set that way. Then I loose all my open apps/browsers. Annoying. Just started a month or so ago.
  • Nothing yet here either...
  • I got the update today. Everything seems to be working fine. Not that it didn't before :)
