Microsoft today took the wraps off of some new Surface Laptop 2 (opens in new tab) and Surface Pro 6 (opens in new tab) configurations for businesses. In response to feedback from its business partners, commercial customers will now be able to pick up either PC with 16GB of RAM in the Intel Core i5 models. Previously, the 16GB of RAM option was only available with a Core i7 processor.
According to Microsoft, the new options will only be available in the U.S. and Canada starting this month. There's potential for them to arrive in other territories, as Microsoft says it is considering expanding these configurations "more broadly in the future."
In addition to the new Surface Pro 6 and Surface Laptop 2 configurations, Microsoft says it has now authorized its commercial partners to sell both PCs to business customers in 11 more European markets. Those include the following:
- Czech Republic
There's no indication that consumer sales of the Surface Laptop 2 or Surface Pro 6 will eventually allow 16GB of RAM options with the Intel Core i5 models, but it's something that would likely be a welcome addition.
