Xbox Games with Gold for September 2019 feature Hitman and Tekken Tag Tournament 2

What you need to know

  • Every month Microsoft gives Xbox Live Gold members four free games.
  • In September, you can download titles like Hitman: The Complete First Season and We Were Here.
  • You can purchase an Xbox Live Gold subscription through Amazon.

Today, Microsoft announced September's free Games with Gold for Xbox One and Xbox 360 owners. Starting on September 1, Hitman: The Complete First Season and Earth Defense Force 2025 will be free with the subscription. Then, on September 16, We Were Here and Tekken Tag Tournament 2 can be downloaded at no cost. You need an active Xbox Live membership to play the Xbox One games, but the Xbox 360 titles are yours to keep after you redeem them once. It doesn't matter if you're still an Xbox Live Gold subscriber.

According to the company, September's lineup provides over $114 in value and up to 4,360 in Gamerscore. You can read about the free games below.

Hitman: The Complete First Season

Despite what the name suggests, Hitman: The Complete First Season is a reboot of the franchise. Unlike its linear predecessors, you explore vast levels and assassinate targets accused of committing heinous crimes. Replayability comes from the fact that you can take them out in various ways. It's still a third-person action game, but there's much more to do than past entries in the acclaimed franchise. It also has a surprisingly intriguing story.

Earth Defense Force 2025

Earth Defense Force 2025 is another entry in the long-running series about shooting extraterrestrials wherever they decide to invade. You essentially have to kill everything in your path using the most destructive weapons ever put into a video game.

We Were Here

We Were Here is a co-op puzzle adventure. Lost in a frozen wasteland and split up from your partner inside an abandoned castle, the only possession you have left is a walkie-talkie with a familiar voice on the other end. Can the two of you find your way out in time?

Tekken Tag Tournament 2

The Tekken franchise is known for its stunning visuals and precise gameplay. Well, Tekken Tag Tournament 2 is no different. While the visuals may have been excellent for the Xbox 360 era, they don't hold up as well today, but the gameplay still does. If you're into fighting games, this is a must-have.

Be sure to download all four of these games next month because many of them are great experiences. Out of all of these, we would recommend playing Hitman: The Complete First Season and We Were Here because they're incredible titles that hold up even after a few years.

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate bundles Xbox Game Pass for Xbox One, Xbox Game Pass for PC, and Xbox Live Gold into one package. The monthly subscription fee goes up to $15 a month, but you gain access to over two hundred games instantaneously. Amazon is selling a three-month subscription for $45 at the moment.
