Persona 5: Royal returns to Xbox Game Pass, and it's bringing with it some cosy and survival titles for Xbox Game Pass's first June 2026 batch of games
One of Atlus' most popular JRPGs, Persona 5: Royal, is coming back to Xbox Game Pass, and it's bringing with it a plethora of lesser-known titles like Herdling, Starseeker: Astroneer Expeditions, and more to Xbox Game Pass.
Microsoft has recently announced the next batch of Xbox titles coming and leaving its premium Xbox Game Pass during the first half of June 2026.
This week's batch contains an assortment of lesser AA and indie games like the atmospheric adventure game Herdling and the lighthearted sci-fi sandbox game Starseeker: Astroneer Expeditions.
However, one game stands out above the rest, and it is none other than one of the most popular Xbox JRPGs ever produced, Persona 5 Royal. This classic turn-based JRPG was once a part of Xbox Game Pass, but was removed on October 31, 2023.
Now, it's coming back, just in time for Persona fans to keep themselves busy as they wait for the upcoming release of Persona 4: Revival.
Here's all the games coming and leaving Xbox Game Pass during the first half of June 2026.

Windows Central's take
Now, admittedly, this is a rather short list of new games for Xbox Game Pass, but I have a sneaking suspicion they'll announce more titles for the service at the upcoming Xbox Games Showcase on June 7, 2026, at 10:00 am PST / 1:00 pm EST / 6:00 pm BST.
Also, I can't help but feel that the return of Persona 5 Royal on Xbox Game Pass just a few days before the June 2026 Xbox Games Showcase may not just be a coincidence. This could be a potential hint that Persona 4: Revival, the highly anticipated remake of Persona 4, could be making its first proper gameplay trailer at the event.
But if it turns out to be a big coincidence and Persona 4 Revival doesn't show up, that's okay because we still have Persona 5 Royal back on Xbox Game Pass either way.
For those who don't know, Persona 5 Royal is a turn-based JRPG where you play as the Phantom Thieves, a group of rebellious, misfit teens gifted with mysterious superpowers called Personas.
Together, they travel an otherworldly dimension to steal the hearts of criminals who have escaped justice and force them to confess their sins.
It's one of Atlus' most popular JRPGs to date and one of my personal favorites, as I gave this treasure of a game 4.5/5 Stars, stating that "Persona 5 Royal is an incredible JRPG that is a must-have for any Xbox JRPG enthusiast. It has an addictive gameplay loop, the characters are well-written, and the anime-style presentation is at its peak thanks to the Xbox Series X|S enhancements."
If you haven't played this game and love urban-fantasy JRPGs that balance turn-based combat, dungeon crawling, and life-sim elements, then now's the perfect time to jump into the elusive world of the Phantom Thieves in Persona 5 Royal.
Become a Phantom Thief and steal the hearts of criminals to reform society while balancing your school life in Persona 5 Royal, the biggest, most over-the-top entry in Atlus' Persona series to date.
