New Vegas is here! Everything I learned from the Fallout TV series Season 2 trailer, including a hint of the iconic Super Mutants
The newest trailer for the Fallout TV series Season shows off Macauley Culkin and Kumail Nanjiani, and it sure seems to imply there'll be a Super Mutant, too.
It's nearly the most wonderful time of the year, almost to that month when we get to watch a new season of the Fallout TV series.
As it inches ever-closer, a new trailer for Season 2 of Bethesda Game Studios and Prime Video's stellar video game adaptation was shared on Thursday, giving another look at what's in store with this return to the Wasteland. You can check out the new trailer below:
There is a lot to take in, with action, explosions, and even a couple of new actors. Macauley Culkin (Home Alone) and Kumail Nanjiani (Eternals) are both present here, with the former involved as some sort of leading figure in Caesar's Legion, while the latter is part of the Brotherhood of Steel.
One of the most interesting aspects of this trailer for me is not just what was shown, but what was heard. Around the 1:10 mark, when the screen goes black, we hear an extremely deep voice, and it sure sounds like a Super Mutant to me.
If so, then I'm extra-excited to see just what group (if any) this particular mutant may belong to and what their role could be. Outside of a brief glimpse of a dead Nightkin, we haven't seen Super Mutants in the Fallout TV series yet, and this season is already introducing several other series mainstays, including the iconic Deathclaw.
This season seems to be extremely focused on New Vegas, so I'm also quite curious about how the series will thread the needle of not picking particular routes and choices, considering how open-ended the fan-favorite Fallout: New Vegas is.
Season 2 of the Fallout TV series arrives on December 17, and I'll definitely be checking it out after how good the first season was. If you haven't watched it yet, you can catch up on Prime Video or snag a 4K Blu-ray copy.

As we wait for one of the best video game adaptations to return, more are coming
Outside of the Fallout TV series (which has already been renewed for a third season), there are a few other video game adaptations percolating right now, including several other Xbox properties.
Many of the same team behind the Fallout TV series are reportedly teaming up with Amazon MGM Studios once again for another Bethesda Softworks property with MachineGames' Wolfenstein.
A Call of Duty movie is on the way from Activision and Paramount, and the companies have signed a deal for Hollywood duo Taylor Sheridan and Peter Berg to helm the film.
Meanwhile, writing for a Gears of War movie at Netflix is underway, and a sequel to A Minecraft Movie (which earned nearly a billion dollars at the box office earlier this year) is already dated for 2027.

When is the Fallout TV series Season 2 release date?
Season 2 of the Fallout TV series is set to premiere on Dec. 17, 2025, with new episodes arriving weekly.
Where can I watch the Fallout TV series Season 2?
Season 2 of the Fallout TV series will premiere exclusively on Prime Video, though it's extremely likely that it will later be available for purchase on 4K Blu-ray.
Is the Fallout TV series set before New Vegas?
No...mostly. Fallout: New Vegas is set in the year 2281, while the Fallout TV series is set in the year 2296, which is 15 years later, except for a handful of flashback scenes that are set before the bombs drop in the year 2077.
This means that the modern-day scenes in the Fallout TV series are also the latest events in all of Fallout canon.
