Battlefield 6 has been a colossal success for DICE since its release on October 10. With players finally making their way through some of the challenges and assignments the game has to offer, EA and DICE now have a release date for the next wave of content coming onto the scene.

Battlefield 6 has a few issues (how dare you take away my XP), but with he upcoming season 1, we'll have all new weapons to help forget about our woes. Season 1 will contain two new maps, six new weapons, and multiple new modes to play. Yes, six new weapons.

All new items, maps, and modes will be spread out throughout the season to give players the slow-drip adrenaline rush of new gear to play with over time. Launching on October 28, players will gain access to Rogue Ops, which includes:

Oh no, they did it, they added a quick scope sniper. (Image credit: EA)

On December 9, players can get their hands on the Ice Climbing Axe melee weapon, which will be available during the Winter Offensive portion of the season.

During this event, the Empire State map will be getting an overhaul into what they're calling the Ice Lock Empire State. A limited-time map that will feature, you guessed it, a winter theme to match the season. I always wonder how my Southern friends in Australia feel about these mixed seasons compared to them.

On top of that, it would seem Battlefield is taking another page out of the Call of Duty playbook with the announcement of Battlefield Pro—a like-for-like equivalent to Call of Duty Blackcell. This, of course, is in addition to the Battlefield 6 season pass.

To be clear, all items in the season pass and Battlefield Pro will be cosmetic. No weapons, gadgets, or anything gameplay-related will ever be locked behind a paywall of any sort. DICE has promised this will be the case for all Battlefield 6 content from the start and in the future.

Season One is looking nice

I hope there are some massive oil areas players can light up! (Image credit: EA)

Personally, I can't wait to get my hands on a new shotgun. I blasted my way through all the shotgun-related challenges within the first few days to unlock the sem-automatic 18.5KS-K.

The DB-12 is a double-barreled shotgun that can come in various forms, from farm-weathered variants to full-blown combat-style setups. I'd imagine, given the current set of weapons, that we'll be seeing something much closer to the general combat form.

I'm also happy that it will come alongside the Eastwood map. Don't get me wrong, Blackwell looks cool and all, but I need less room for players to breathe if I'm going to be raining down slugs and buckshot on them.

That's a rich field right there. (Image credit: EA)

What the heck are Battle Pickups?

Think Halo, where weapons are somewhere on the ground in the area. Battle Pickups are essentially that, high-powered weapons with limited ammo that can help players turn the tide of battle in their favor.

They'll become key power points on a map, aside from the main objectives. Where players will vie for control over the area in an attempt to gain the all-mighty power of whatever they'll be throwing at us.

So, like, where the heck is that battle royal mode? I guess we'll have to wait at least another season before we get to see that in action. I'm still secretly hoping it drops right next to Black Ops 7 to spice up the competition.
