  • Players will take control of Jack Garland and battle against Chaos and many more enemies with brutal, Dark Souls-like combat.
  • A new trailer for Stranger of Paradise shows more combat gameplay, characters, story details, and much more.
  • The game is available for preorder now ahead of its release on March 18, 2022 for Xbox, PlayStation, and PC.

The Final Fantasy series is one of the longest-running and most expansive game franchises in history, and it certainly isn't slowing down. Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin is a spin-off from the main series, and tells a story similar to that of the original Final Fantasy game but set in an alternate universe with a darker fantasy setting. On Monday, Square Enix unveiled the final trailer for Stranger of Paradise before the game officially releases later this year, and it's filled with over-the-top action and cinematics.

Revealed during E3 2021, Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin has players take control of protagonist Jack Garland and battle against Chaos alongside a new cast of companions. The game also shirks turn-based combat in favor of precise, brutal combat resembling a FromSoftware Dark Souls title, with rolling and various attacks and weapon types all present.

The new trailer showcases a ton of this combat against a plethora of enemies, and shares more details about the game's altered narrative and crew of characters. Stranger of Paradise is undoubtedly a strange title, even for the already eccentric Final Fantasy series, but may still offer a tantalizing adventure for fans of the series and newcomers alike as one of the best Xbox games of 2022.

Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin arrives on March 18, 2022 for Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, and PC through the Epic Games Store. You can preorder the game now.
