Build your own Tiny Tower in the Star Wars universe on Windows and Windows Phone

Star Wars: Tiny Death Star is a business simulation game developed by Disney Mobile and NimbleBit (published by LucasArts), which has come to Windows 8.1 and Windows Phone 8, alongside Android and iOS devices.

The latest title is based on NimbleBit's previous hit game, Tiny Tower but is set in the Star Wars universe. Tiny Tower wasn’t available for Windows Phone, so it’s great to see LucasArts/NimbleBit on Windows Phone Store finally.

Zomato restaurant finder app gives you restaurant recommendations around you and lets you look at menus, pictures, contact info, and directions for 120,000 restaurants in 35 cities across 11 countries. The app allows you to check ratings and reviews of restaurants in your city which you can search for by location, cuisine, or name.

Aria, voice-based personal assistant for Windows Phone, available free in India for one day

Aria, the Siri-like personal assistant for Windows Phone, is free for a day on Windows Phone Store in India. 

The app is different from other similar apps for Windows Phone since it uses the native Windows Phone Speech Recognition for commands instead of processing on online servers. This way the app doesn’t hit your mobile data usage much and also tends to works faster. Also, apart from the obvious US and UK English language support, the app works well for Indian accent as well.

Windows Phone grows to 4 percent market share in Q3 2013; Android, iOS stay flat

According to Canalys, and independent analyst firm, Windows Phone grew its share of pie to four percent in Q3 2013, while Android and iOS stayed static.

The report cited that nearly a quarter of billion smartphones shipped in the three-month period, a 44 percent year-over-year increase. Windows Phone accounted for 9.2 million of these units, a growth of 185 percent.

Book flight tickets in India with Goibibo on Windows Phone

Goibibo, one of the fast growing online travel booking platforms in India, now has a Windows Phone app to book flights on the go. Incidentally, Goibibo has a Windows Store app since last year.

Like the Windows 8 app, this one is pretty basic too. While it is very clean and fast, it’s limited in offerings. The app does not allow the booking of bus tickets, hotels, and travel packages as available on their website. Even for flight bookings, the app only allows the booking of domestic flight tickets.

redBus.in, India’s largest bus ticketing company, have launched their official Windows Phone app. While they’ve had an Android app for a while, Windows Phone users should be happy to be next in line. The popular service offers tickets for over 12,000 routes across India with 700+ luxury bus operators.
